The decorative paper used on these journals is called katazome paper. The pattern is made from a hand carved stencil that artisans use to screen print the patterns onto the paper. This technique was developed in Japan in the 1100s for printing patterns onto kimonos.
Each book is made entirely by hand, leaving you with a journal where the care put into making it is something you can actually feel. The cover is bound in high quality bookcloth giving it resistance to wear for a journal that will hold up exceptionally to regular use.
Inside are 180 pages of smooth, 105 gsm lined paper that is fountain pen friendly, offering minimal bleed and a consistently satisfying writing experience.
