Burgundy Flower Journal

This journal was one of my favorites to design. The cover is made with a deep burgundy bookcloth that is water resistant and a hand-cut window that showcases a marbled jute fiber paper. Jute fiber grows similar to bamboo, so it's a wonderful, sustainable plant to use for paper production. I did the gold accents myself with heated brass tools, including a little flower I received as a gift from a retiring bookbinder. I'd wanted to use the tool for ages but never had a purpose until I made this journal. The gold catches light differently depending on which way you tilt the journal.

This journal has 180 pages of 105 gsm lined writing paper and will lay completely flat while writing. It will accept fountain pen ink without feathering or bleeding, but the paper is not specifically made for them.
